To put it simply, Matt + Stephanie's mountainside session lit my soul on fire.
A few weeks before their session we met at a Japanese steakhouse and had sushi and I immediately knew we all hit it off. I learned about their love story and their backpacking adventures together. Matt took Stephanie to Mt. Magazine for her birthday one year, so this was definitely a special place for them.
On the day of their session, we followed them for the two hour drive to the campsites near the lodge at Mt. Magazine. Luckily, the cliffs were easily accessible with minimal hiking required. The sun was a bit too high to shoot, so we all sat down on the cliff and enjoyed the warm sun and spring breeze. It was truly a gorgeous day.
As the sun began to set, we started to shoot. For most of their session, we just talked through all the motions and I caught the in-between moments of them together. Minimal posing- but a lot of connection.
The light was absolutely magical and I just couldn't get enough! At the end of their session, I had Matt put on their favorite song and just told them to hold each other and dance. It was such a close, intimate moment and I almost felt like an intruder. I got some of my favorite shots during their dance together.
Once we were finished shooting, we ended our day with dinner at the Lodge at Mt. Magazine. My favorite part about my job is finding clients that turn into great friends. These two are so special and I can't get over how happy I am to have met them! Their photos are my favorite that I've taken to this day. I'll definitely be back to visit this gorgeous place.
