"My body is full of life. My body is powerful. My body made me a mother." This one is for you, mommas.
I've known Angel since 2015 when I hosted my first boudoir marathon alongside Kate Spitz Photography and, a few months ago, I noticed that she was engaged and soon-to-be-married at Hawksbill Crag and I about fell out of my chair. I have wanted to visit Hawksbill for SO long but never had the opportunity. I instantly messaged her and asked if I could pretty pleeeeease capture their engagement session there.....and thank heavens she agreed!
We drove 3 hours from Little Rock to Hawksbill and hiked a total of three miles but it was worth every minute. The whole hike was absolutely gorgeous and alongside the cliff which provided for amazing views. I'll never get tired of the scenery in Arkansas! What I love most about their sessions is the lack of direction I had to give them. I told them to "love on each other" and kept shooting to document their natural movement with each other.. It was gorgeous to see! Here are a few images from their dreamy cliffside session.
I've always been absolutely fascinated by motherhood and babies. When I was little, you could find me watching "A Baby's Story" basically every morning. I've recently been wanting to start offering family photography sessions again and I thought the perfect way to get back into it was a mommy-and-me session with Olivia and Bastien.
There's just something so pure and raw about motherhood that is so beautiful to document. Being able to capture all of those tiny details that are so fleeting is incredible. I'm sure that Olivia will look back on these photos and love all of those tiny fingers, toes, and rolls.
Okay, I know what you're thinking... "It's 2017, so why are you blogging a 2016 event?" Because I suck at timely blogging, that's why. Even though it's a bit late, I had to make a blog post telling all about our December Boudoir Marathon!
A boudoir marathon is basically just a weekend full of boudoir sessions. I host these once or twice a year in Little Rock with my lovely makeup artist, Amy Freyaldenhoven, of Beauty by Amy Frey. What makes this so special is the awesome deal that my clients get! Marathon sessions include a leather album that holds 20-25 of their favorite images. My single sessions do not include products, so this is a big deal!
This marathon was held in the Little Rock River Market district. With a hotel room that overlooks the river, has huge windows, and a gorgeous white headboard... you're destined for dreamy images! Each session with us starts with hair + makeup. While you're being beautified, I go through the outfits that we've chosen together and I set them up for your session. I like to keep it around three outfits for marathon sessions since we're a bit limited on time. Once Amy is finished, we choose which outfit you'd like to start with and we go from there! It's completely normal to feel nervous about your boudoir session. I mean...who is comfortable posing in lingerie? Not me! But even if you're feeling a bit shy, my guidance and your favorite music will loosen you up a bit! All of my clients leave their sessions feeling a new sense of confidence and a whole lot of kickass.
Your privacy is of utmost importance, so I will only share your images if you allow me to! Most of my clients allow me to share their images in my private boudoir group (found here), but the decision is up to you! Here are a few of my favorite images from this marathon (that I can share)!
You can view more images on Facebook. Don't forget to join my private group here.
I know it's a little cliche to say, but 2016 has really been a year of growth for me and my business. It was my first full year as an official business here in Arkansas; I decided to specialize in seniors, couples, and boudoir portraiture; and I began my nursing school adventure at UALR. To say this year has been a wild ride would be an understatement, but I love where it has brought me.
Along with all of those business and lifestyle changes, my "style" of work has changed as well. My past few portrait sessions have allowed me to explore creatively and I've found what I want in my work. My ultimate goal is to capture true emotion and raw feelings in my portraits and I feel as if I finally found it. My style is raw & moody and shows real life. I've began to focus less on making my portraits perfect because sometimes (most of the time) that's not how life is. Sometimes you have to let go and
let the moment speak for itself.
The end of the year is all about celebration, reflection, and making resolutions for the year to come. My resolutions for 2017 are to be more transparent in my business, to learn to "un-plug," go on more adventures, meet more people, and fully "put myself out there." I want to show my clients that I'm real, emotional, sarcastic, shy, fun-loving, adventurous, and all the other things that make myself who I really am. Instead of trying to portray this perfect person that I'm not, I'm finding the beauty in imperfection.
Here are my favorite images from this year. I hope you love them as much as I do!
I'm looking forward to see what awesome things 2017 will bring.
Madison is one of my first CBK Senior Representatives here in Little Rock! She is a senior this year at Cabot High School and is one of the sweetest girls I have ever met. From the moment we had our pre-session styling consult, I knew we would hit it off and create some amazing images together!
Madison loves to spend time with her family and friends, go to the lake, and fish. In school, she is involved in medical club, key club, and FFA. Her favorite subject in school is English and she is excited about her senior year because she gets to experience the progression of her life as well as preparing for her college years!
Madison's session was at her family's cabin on the Little Red River and it was absolutely gorgeous in the morning sunrise light! It was so neat to incorporate elements that were so special to her, such as her dad's truck, the dock that her and her dad fish from, and even the fishing pole that her dad uses!
My favorite part about CBK Senior Sessions is incorporating those key elements that make you uniquely you.

When Catherine contacted me for a boudoir session, I was thrilled! Since being in Little Rock, I had only done boudoir marathons, not single sessions. I was excited to be able to do a 1 on 1 session with her...and our lovely makeup artist, of course.
Catherine is a military spouse and she chose to do a boudoir session as a gift to her deployed husband. We started off her session with hair and makeup done by Beauty by Amy Frey out of Conway, Arkansas. This session was a dream because of all of the adorable lace bralettes!
We finished off Catherine's boudoir experience with her viewing and ordering session and together we designed the perfect monogrammed wooden heirloom box to hold all of her images and send to her husband overseas.
To start off, I just want to say that I am not a newborn photographer. But when one of your childhood best friends has an adorable little baby boy, you basically HAVE to capture those squishy little rolls and tiny toes.
I have known Jozie since I was probably in the third grade. We were basically forced upon each other when our older sisters were inseparable. But this was fine with me, because we created so many memories. From riding the four-wheeler all over the country-side to cooking various concoctions in her mother's kitchen, we became pretty darn close.
When I found out Jozie was expecting I was absolutely thrilled! Anyone who knows me knows that I adore babies and I couldn't wait to hold her bundle of joy. For the past few months, we have been texting back and forth planning all of the details of his session and finally got to put it all into action on March 25th, when Michael was just eight days old. Even if he was a bit fussy, we still captures some gorgeous images.
Thank you so much, Jozie, for choosing me to be your newborn photographer.
